An unforgiving heart is w…

“An unforgiving heart is worse than 10,000 illnesses…even a pure soul can be corrupted. #sigh”

So here i am , minding my own business when my sister comes along with this animation called ‘Dante’s Inferno’. it’s all about the lives we live here on earth and the price one has to pay for many wrong deeds.

The scene that gripped me was where an innocent soul got corrupted and eventually became the bride of the devil because of an unforgiving heart.

I was like oookkk… i found myself forgiving everybody i could think of that had hurt me in anyway.

I thought of my Ex-boyfriend, my friends from school, colleagues, family, and  especially my friend who yanked out a chunk of hair from the crown of my head when she pressured me into relaxing my 6inch afro.

I also forgave the hairdresser that left a relaxer on my head for almost an hour when i was about 8yrs old and left me with a skull cap made of burnt hair and oozing scab wounds from the chemicals. i got teased in school for it and it was generally a traumatic experience.

I should probably write another post naratting the entire story of pain and woe.  All i can say now is, thank God my crown and glory was not permanently damaged and even as my scalp healed, i realised that my heart also needed to heal.  i forgive you ‘childhood hairdresser’ *inhale….. exhale*

One of my hair inspiration divas’ -» Chicoro

Hello beautiful world
I just got a message from one of my healthy haircare mentors and inspirations website I subscribed to(www.BeautifyBitByBitGi.com). The message/post is titled ” When the Magic Dies, Your Hair Will Thrive and Something MagicalHappens” . It’s quite obvious from the wisdom, writing style and genuine L♥√ع and respect for the crown and glory(hair) God has given us to see why she is one of my *Hairspirations*.
I’ll post a portion of the message below, you can find the full story on her website. For copyright reasons, I am stating that these are the words of Chicoro, enjoy. :*

When The Magic Dies, Your Hair Will Thrive and Something Magical Happens

Magic is when you blink your eyes and something goes away or appears. Magic is wishing you had hair like somebody else’s hair. Magic is stuffing your hair under a weave or wig, not for a protective style, but for the purpose of pretending what you bought is really what you got.   A head of hair is like a set of teeth. If you ignore either one, each will eventually go away.

Your hair will thrive once you leave the magic behind you. Any type of hair can look good or bad. It’s how you treat it and feed it that makes the difference. The funny thing is when the magic dies, your hair will thrive and then something magical begins. Your hair will transform before your eyes.

Are you are at the magic stage?
1. If you hope your hair will look like someone else’s hair, you are at the magic stage. “Her hair is so pretty. Mine doesn’t look like that”.
2. If you think your natural color and/or hair texture is ugly, you are at the magic stage. “My hair is too fine. I can’t get a full puff”.
3. If you could get your hands on her product list so your hair can grow like hers, you are in the magic stage. “It’s disappointing that she won’t tell me which products she uses.”
4. If you think that because your hair has never been longer than it is today that it will never gain more length, you are at the magic stage. “My hair has been short all my life and it will never grow past my ears.”
5. If you apply healthy hair care tips to damaged- beyond repair hair and expect that damaged hair to turn-around, you are at the magic stage. “I have been doing protective styling on my over processed broken hair. No healthy hair tip has worked for my hair.”

You are at the magical stage
1. If you accept your hair for what it is today, without blame or pain.
2. If you know process and products work in conjunction to create beautiful hair.
3. If you know the difference between admiring someone else’s hair as opposed to coveting or being envious or jealous of it.
4. If you know that if you care for your hair today, your future tomorrows will bring healthier hair, no matter how it always looked in the past.
5. If you apply healthy hair practices to healthy hair, your hair will respond positively.

Take Some Action: Educate yourself about your hair and leave the magic behind.

MY HAIR AND 2ND HAND SMOKING!!

So I went club hopping with my sister today (VIP of course). Free BBQ and champagne was of course part of the reason why we indulged lady night. So while some were getting high and some getting low to the flooor urs trully couldn’t help but think about what the smoke was doing to my hair and wot the state of my hair would be like tomorrow *covers face*. I glared at every individual that lit a cigarette beside me like noooo whyyyy wot r u doing c’mon. ‎ℓ☺ℓ . See smoking in clubs and public places is still legal in Naija so 2nd hand smoking is still a big risk to 2nd and 3rd parties.
So after picturing the effect it would have on me as a human being, my wonderful mind couldn’t help but wander to my hair and what all this 2nd hand smoking would do to it’s health.
I felt bad for putting my hair through this but really, how can I live my life based on how my hair will react to every situation. I control my moods and emotions, not my hair end-of.
So 😦 it’s past 2 and If u closed ur eyes and stood next to me u’d think I was a giant cigarette. ‎ℓ☺ℓ.

 =))˚°◦hahahaha
_\\_

So the moral of the story is, if u dnt want ur hair breathing in/absorbing carbon monoxide ‎ℓ☺ℓ I know I’m exagerrating but hey. Stay out of Naija clubs. Ur hair is less liable to break off prematurely. *giggling @ my british humour*

PS: I’m not against clubbing in any way. *wink*

Take care ya’ll.

My Hair-Buddy

I have a hair-buddy and her name is pinky. (real name:Yvonne)
she sticks by me through split ends and dry scalp
she’s always there to share my progress and set backs
she cheers me on when i make good progress
she sheds a tear when i loose excess hair
she indulges my obsession with haircare and healthy and long hair.
BUT…
most of all, i love her because she always has a word of encouragement to offer.
I love you hair buddy xxx *hugs*

Everyone should have a hair buddy, just like people need a gym buddy….two is company. That way ur never alone and u are motivated to stay on track.
Love Naijahair.

Hair Police now resuming for duty!!!

 OMG!!! I just had an idea to include a *hair police* segment/page for this blog because u can’t imagine the amount of mishaps and traumatised heads of hair I see on the regular. *covers face* I wish my fellow naija women would care enough about their hair to get knowledge, put the effort in and watch their hair thrive above all else.
This picture is an example of a random lady I captured on camera. Her pony tail just threw me. I calculated the mass of hair from her scalp and the size her ponytail is supposed to be, and mehnnnnn its sad. There’s less than quarter of her hair that’s making up that ponytail. I made sure I din’t capture her face, for obvious reasons.
So, to whoever may be reading this post, I have a heart-felt message for you;
Small tail combs
Hot water (curling with extension)
Trimming along braids
Mousse and gels left on too long
Rubber bands
Pulling and excessive combing
Relaxer on tips

All these things will result in the type of scanty ponytail you can see in the picture below.
Naija babes, let’s appreciate our natural/relaxed hair and not depend on weaves and wigs. IMHO(In My Honest Opinion) unless you are suffering from some form of alopecia or hair loss/excessive shedding, you have no valid reason to depend on weaves and wigs 24/7,365 days of the year.
L♥√ع your hair and it will L♥√ع you right back, I promise *hand on heart *

I L♥√ع you guys,

REBEKAH BROOKS

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Rebekah Brook is an executive who recently resigned from her post at “the news of the world” publications for unauthorized phone hacking allegations. To be quite honest, i really don’t care what accusations and allegations have been made against her but, ooohh myyy gosshhhhh that hair is all i-seeeeee. wowzers, as in the colour the curl pattern, the voluuuume..*SOB*

I’m in total awe of her hair. Rebekah you have a fan in Naijahair.

Seriously i am obsessed

So I was in church today and this lady and her sister I’m guessing came and sat in front of me and my family. Everyone else noticed her outfit first but yours trully zoomed into the keratin grassland on her head. I sreammmmmmeeeedd inside me @ the state of her hair, needless to say, I had to close my eyes for the rest of the praise and worship AMENN!!!
Well as the saying goes, nothing lasts forever. I opened my eyes again and I had a flood of emotions as I stared @ her hair..
1. It was changing colour (brownish) I’m guessing from relaxers or low protein in diet
2. Her hair was dryyy all over the place
3.Her hair should be chin length but she had strands reaching neck length @ the sides, and shoulder length @ the back.
I KID YOU NOT!!! You could actually count the strands that dangled and floated on her head. I felt really bad 4 her and then she just did something that threw me she brushed her hair/strands to the back (Loreal advert style)
OMG!!! My body twitched on it’s own in response to what I had just witnessed.
At this point I had to restrain myself from looking and focus on the sermon, wait who am I kidding, I was dreaming up hair care regimens for her, trimmed her ends, washed and deep conditioned it for her and became her personal haircare guru to nurse her hair back to perfect health.
I even considered praying for her to seek knowledge for her hair cos even the bible says that *my people perish for lack of knowledge*. If I had a hair bible, I’m sure it’ll have a reference along that line because, lack of haircare knowledge will equal slow death to our beautiful crown and glory.

Moral of the story

Hair is important, God designed it to beautify our heads, don’t watch your hair die slowly and remain in denial about its condition. Get haircare knowledge, get wisdom and watch your hair thrive.
